bedtime stories
« on: December 30, 2008, 04:53:14 am »

naturally lots of kids movies around at this time of year. i thought id have a look at this one. adam sandler plays the son of a failed hotelier (jonathon pryce, who narrates), passed up for promotion. guy pearce plays his nemesis i suppose. rob schneider is uncredited. also features courtney cox and teresa palmer (corr!)

i was in a big cinema (an ex imax) and its obviously school holidays. im always oblivious to school holiday times, until i go to the cinema. anyway, lots of kids. and i would say most of them enjoyed it. they even clapped at the end!

i really enjoyed this. nice bit of fantasy. its refreshing to enjoy a story without T & A, or people being blown up. don't let sandler or schneider put you off if you don't like them much. sandlers character is not as over the top as other creations, and schneiders part isnt big.

so long as you arent a teenager, you'll like it. surly teenagers are not easily pleased. they thnk of this as 'kids stuff'. but if you have young kids, it could be a good one to take them to. or if, like me, you like to enjoy stories in all forms (even if no one gets shot and no one has sex) could be one to go and see even if you dont have kids.

4 out of 5.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Oh god... I got a smoker for Xmas... my younger son made me an apron in art class to go with it.  At the top of the apron it says "YOU CAN DO IT!  YOU CAN DO IT ALL NIGHT LONG!" because he loves the Waterboy.

He has no idea what it actually means.   :laugh2:
