PS2 singstar on 40GB PS3
« on: December 13, 2008, 04:29:50 am »
Does anyone know if the update for PS3 Singstar to enable the use of PS2 Singstar discs has been released for Australia?
I have seen that it was scheduled for release near the end of 2008 for the US but cant find any aussie info.....
I have a poverty 40GB model so no backwards compatibility for me, hence this is my only option   :-[
Cheers guys.

Is that really an option?

I have a ps2 sing star and the vol1 for the ps3.  I haven’t played Sing Star in months, so I don’t know if they had updates, when I have time I’ll run it on my PS3 and see if there're any updates for the American Sing Star and if I can run the ps2 disk in the ps3 vol1.

I'd consider buying the sing star country for the ps2 if it would work with the ps3 sing star.  Otherwise I'll just wait for when/if they decided to release those songs as DLC for the ps3.

Ha!  Comparatively speaking, that's like saying "I was only able to afford the starter Mansion with only one butler and full-time cook."

Looks like Sony just answered my question for me this morning!

Update should be online on 16th December to allow use of PS2 Singstar songs on PS3, you do need the PS3 version for this to work however.

Cheers.

Rumors refuse to go away regarding a future full PS2 BC update.  One can only hope...

I was asking Santa for American Idol Encore 2, this update might give my SingStar disk new life, now I'm going to rethink my list.

What stinks is I've already bought two songs that were on my ps2 disk.

Would the update allow you to read a song off of a ps2 disk if your machine doesn't have BC?

I found a couple of SingStar PS2s at Game Stop, and they held me over until SingStar was released on the PS3.  Since I stopped playing the PS2 version I forgot I had the Killers song on the other disk.  I can’t remember the other duplicate song I have, but I remember being upset with myself for buying two songs I already had.

The PS3 version has a video capture option, plus when you have people over switching between disks and reloading games is a pain.  It’ll also be good to store all the high scores under one title.

I still think American Idol Encore(Karaoke Revolution) is a better game.  The reviews are giving AIE2 a hard time.  They say it’s just AIE1 with new songs.  I liked AIE1, I just couldn’t justify getting it since a friend already has it.

Grrrr....

Don't get mad... get 60 gig!  ;)

Next you'll be telling me that you got it for free!  :)

Believe me, I seriously considered selling my 40gb and picking up a 60gb but with all the negative buzz surrounding the PS3 (especially lately), I decided against it.

the SingStar update for the PS3 works.

My GF wasn't sure of what system I have.  (even though I was dropping American Idol 2 ps3 hints over and over again)

She got me PS2's SingStar country and SingStar ABBA the week after Christmas, (it was a new years eve, sorry for the sweaters gift).

It’s a lot better than having to reload a new game every time you insert a new disk, but it doesn't remember or show songs that are on other disks.
When you put in a new CD it clears out all the songs that were on the first CD.
It'd be nice if it remembered all the songs it's ever played and showed them all in the list and if someone picks a song that not on the current CD it would ask the user to insert the correct CD or cancel the selection.  It’s a pain to read through all the CD covers to know what songs are on what disk.

*Before you start making comments... her getting me ABBA was like me giving her lingerie.  Something for me, that she’ll enjoy more.
