Problem w/ LCD - Help!?
« on: January 17, 2009, 09:02:29 pm »
I have a Dell 1703FPT monitor and one day it just went blank. Switched to new VGA cable and DVI cable. No avail.

Symptoms:

1) When plugging in, it displays a scrambled image (see attached pic) rotated 90* CCW.

2) Monitor glows but no display

3) Green power button stays lit and cannot be turned off. Monitor can't be turned off either.

4) With VGA cable unplugged, it doesn't display anything like "monitor disconnected". Just a glowing blank screen.

Any ideas? Thanks.

No power brick. It uses a standard PC power supply cable.

Many Dell monitors support rotation and have a sensor to detect rotation events.  Perhaps this is messed up.  Could be the problem even if your model doesn't actually support rotation (which might explain why the startup logo doesn't handle it right) as the board no doubt is used on several models.
