King of Kong and Four Christmases
« on: December 18, 2008, 04:37:06 pm »

So a few weeks ago I watched 'The King of Kong', it was an interesting enough story, if maybe a little dramatized :)

Anyway, last night I went with my wife to see the move Four Christmases, starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn.  There was a (very) small character named Jim who played the nerdy husband of Reese's sister, and for some reason he looked vaguely familiar.  Just before the end of the movie it hit me - it was Steve Weibe from King of Kong, the former (current? cant remember) DK world record holder.  (Checked his name in the credits, it was him sure enough.)

Guess Vince might be serious about the remake?

(If this was already public knowledge, sorry - as usual I'm probably the last to know :) )

I noticed him there too when I saw Four Christmases.

Also, when he first is introduced, Im pretty sure he is playing Donkey Kong on the Wii (gotta listen hard to hear it).  Someone must have been a fan of King of Kong.

I'm glad you brought this up.  I thought that was Wiebe, but then I thought "why the hell would Steve Wiebe be in this movie?"   Now I remember that Vince Vaughan is supposed to play him in the Hollywood "dramatic" version of the story.

The reason he was in it has nothing to do with Vince Vaughn. Four Christmases was directed by Seth Gordon, director of King of Kong.

Well, ya know, that just might explain it :)
