Using screenshots with Mamewah
« on: December 28, 2008, 02:37:02 pm »
I have Mamewah 1.63 installed with Mame, NES, SNES and Sega and have skins I like downloaded from the Web. I had no trouble with the layout.lay or main.jpg files, but I can't get my screen shots to load in the box on the layout designed for them. I have png files for screen shots. I'm assuming I have to save them in a folder and tell Mamewah where it is, but I'm not sure how to map it with the ini files. Also, it looks like some of the names of the files aren't exactly what the rom is titled. Is there anything to remedy that short of changing 1,000 file names? Thanks.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

In the layout designer, you need to add Artwork #1, #2, #3, etc, and place the box for each where you want them in your layout. Then in the INI file, your artwork directories for each one (like marquees, cpanels, etc) need to be in the order of those numbers (directories are to be separated by semi-colons).

Thanks. Meant to update because I figured it out. Still working on getting screen shot sets. I have some but they are labeled in Goodtools and don't match my roms. Any advice for that?
