anyone here use 3D Arcade front end?
« on: September 11, 2009, 05:17:24 pm »
I've been playing with this and having some troubles. It seems like 90% of the arcades I try to use give me out of range errors and dont show the extra models.. Is there a trick to this?

Also, I see there is a DVD version of this which I have tried to download to look at configs to figure this out, but all the links are dead...anyone have a valid link?

If you're talking about that Emulaxian 3d arcade, yeah, I tried working with it some time ago.

In the end, when I came across Mala, I gave up on it. It didn't seem to be being maintained much, and it was INCREDIBLY confusing to setup.

It was pretty freakin' cool to be able to walk around in a virtual arcade though!

Emulaxian 3d arcade, yeah thats the one. So I guess I'm not the only one thoroughly confused! And thanks for the vid link, ironically enough, I've gotten about as far as he did in his version but am looking into why other arcades are giving me errors lol.

I've been playing around with it lately, a little difficult to set up, but otherwise a cool front end.  If you're familiar with setting up a front end (Mala, GameEx, Hyperspin) then that definately helps.  I downloaded the files here:

http://ftp.rivetedstudios.com/mame-downloads/cat_view/40-mame-files/41-3d-arcade.html

Just had to change some of the paths, but I haven't fully tested it yet...  Good luck!

I don't recal whether I've tried this one out before, and did the other night after reading this thread. Certainly a little weird to configure (both in setting paths, as well as simply accessing the configuration manager) and after a perhaps an hour had mame running. I kinda lost interest after that.

It's a really neat idea....but if you have game lists that are longer than ten or twenty - and almost all of mine are - I can see an issue. (This has been mentioned by others before.) Plus, moving around the arcade seems more suited to an analog stick...so while it's cool at first, it gets a little tiresome.

thanks for the link, I should of mentioned I did manage to find it. I also did get it up and working with an arcade that has about 200 arcade games plus some pinball games. this is enough for my favorites at least! I don't have a hard time at all moving around with a joystick and trackball. now just to swap out some games to get my favorites in... this will take some time but it sure gives an awesome feel to playing mame games, esp. with the bezels turned on and working coindoors! def worth the time and a great wow factor when showing my cab off. I just wish the community on their forums was bigger. I tried to register 4 days ago and still no reply!
