Where to find a big 4:3 LCD

<< < (4/15) > >>

gajaman:
The Frys one has now gone up by $100!

Looks like it's widescreen anyway so now not the best way forward.

Like the sound of these LCD replacement arcade monitors, just need the info. Bet they're expensive!

Looks like it's goinng to have to be a 20" for the time being. There will be space in the cab to upgrade to a bigger one if they become available I guess.

Necro:
Just wondering, but do they make 4:3 HDTV's?  I'm 99% sure they don't, but that would be cheaper than an LCD computer monitor and if you get the right one with an RGB input would work just as well.

Todd H:
There are some 27" 4:3 CRT HDTV's out there. Just search via google. Here's one:

Of course, these are nowhere near as slim as an LCD.

All the Lindberghs and the likes go for 16:9 1366x768 pixel TV's. Doubt anybody is going to make 25 inch 4:3's for restauration purposes only. These panel factories work by the 100000's.

I can't find the link at the moment. Perhaps someone will see it and post the link. It was a 24.8 (I think) drop in replacement for 25 and 27's, but its not out yet. It won't be for restoration only... IT will use them by the thousands for Golden Tee, Silver Strike, etc.

Yeah I have the 25" Golden Tee monitor/cabinet and was thinking of making into a Mame/Multi Gaming system.

I been on the fence of removing the Arcade Monitor and putting in an LCD.  A 4:3 would look more stock but it doesn't seem like it is in the cards.  If they are coming out with something new to replace all the Golden Tee and Silver Strike arcades out there.  It has to be pretty expensive IMO because they will have to recoupe costs right off the bat.

So it might have to be a 16:9 aspect ratio LCD or I will order the arcade VGA and the JPAC for the Arcade Monitor.  Either way it is going to cost about the same if I just bought a 16:9 widescreen 26 inch monitor.

Who knows.  The way things are going in the economy I might have to just hold off on all projects for now and wait.  uggg :banghead:
