Could an Arcade monitor be put into a TV case?
« on: September 16, 2008, 02:34:04 am »
Does anybody know whether or not an arcade monitor would fit into an old tv case, maybe one of those old RCA floor models?

I'm looking to have a "TV" to play NES and SNES games on their native resolutions and I just happen to have a 25" arcade monitor setting around doing nothing.

I'm pretty sure as long as the mounts line up it would be an easy switch.  Adding in a power supply and switch shouldn't be a problem either, I could probably even hack it to use the TV's power button.

Has anybody here done something like this?

some monitors used zenith and rca crts. so yes, if u wanted to do that.
the potential problem might be matching the bezel to the crt curvature .
so, suggest using a matching brand cabinet

who made ur crt ?

Mine is a wells gardner that came in a Mortal Kombat cabinet.  I'll have to wait until the weekend when I can get to it to tell you the model number.

I've thought of doing this with a flat screen CRT. Problem was I couldn't find a dead flat CRT TV. Not yet.

I am not sure if it would fit.

I just wanted to let you know that you can get 15Khz RGB out of a Super NES if you wanted to connect it to your arcade monitor.

Thanks, but it would need to be "27, and in any case I'm preferring something local.
