Who has a working World Series the Season? Possible driver issues.

(1/2) > >>

Chunce DeLeone:
Is there anyone out there has a real World Series the season Machine or Strike Zone Baseball, or Super Baseball Double Paly Home Run Derby, or Baseball the Season II ?
There are two things I have noticed while playing these games Mame.109 and .126u2.  A. When I Aim to Pitch the Yaxis is reversed, When you push down it goes up and when you push up it goes down, left and right are fine.  The quick answer would be to reverse the axis but when you do that pitch execution is wrong becasue it will pitch on the way back instead of the normal back then forward.  B. Also while aiming the lowest you can Aim is right at about the knees of the batter, so you can't Aim low and the only way to pitch low is to pitch Slow.
I tried this on hacked original controls, a mouse and a keyboard with all the same results.
My question is does this happen on the real machine????
If not I think there is a problem with the game driver.
Thanks

I have a World Series the Season cabinet. Up and down are up and down on the machine. Sounds like you are correct that the axes are switched. Aiming low is indeed done by pitching slow. You can only aim as low as the knees (default). I'm impressed that you're playing it in MAME. The whole reason I bought the cabinet is because I loved the game when i was a kid but couldn't play it accurately or even close to the same controls with MAME. Good luck!

Hey thanks for checking that out!!!!
Ok so Pitching slow is to aim low, that is great.

But the Axis is switched while aiming,  if this is indeed a driver error in the ROM itself, who should be contacted or atleast informed that this exists?????

Mame bugs can be reported at the mametesters site.

I pulled my controls out of the closet (it's been 5 years since I used them last!) and one of them is not working, but I was able to test the game with the working one.  I couldn't get it to work properly with the latest version of Mame.  I tried a few different settings, and I was getting a response from the game.  I could pitch a ball and swing a bat, but not enough that I could properly control either action.  I remembered that it worked perfectly when I had tried it before.  I think that it was working for me around August of 2003, so I downloaded a version of Mame from around that time.  After a little bit of messing with the controls, everything seemed to work fine in Mame v.072b.  Give that version a shot.  Knowing which version it works in is a good start to figuring out what is wrong with the new version.  You can get older versions of Mame from the following page (be sure to download the binary, and not the source):

Luckily the current wseries rom worked with the old release!

...it's the bottom of the 9th, and it's all tied up.   ;)

(I fixed the 2nd controller and I'm playing right now...  It's a really fun game!)
