Who's voice is that?
releasedtruth:
Frizzle, not too hard to get out there in recording land. I did voiceovers, podcasts and narrations for IBM before my current company and continue to find places to ply some recording talent, music, audio books for blind family member, etc. Quite good fun, not Phil Lamarr good, but all the same.
Get out there and do it. Get your company involved, do it solo, whatever it takes

Very, VERY few can top Phil Lamarr. Only Frank Welker and Billy West can come close...

I'll tell you, Peter Cullen was the voice of my childhood. I love Welker and West though. Big fan of Castellaneta, too, as you might guess. I'm no voice star by any means, but I love good voices. Stephen Fry HP books, so good.

--- Quote from: FrizzleFried on August 11, 2008, 10:52:11 am ---I've always wanted to get in to voice acting and or voiceovers for commercials, etc. I've been told dozens of times that I have an excellent "radio" voice. Funny thing is that when i listen to myself on tape, I think I sound like ---Cleveland steamer---... but to myself as I sing for example, i sound awesome! Evidently the vibrations of your vocal cords run through the bone to the ear obscuring the actual sound, so you sound much different to yourself than how others (and yourself via recordings) hear you.

If your voice is that good can you record yourself saying " Welcome to Marvel Arcade!" for me in a Marvel vs Capacom style voice??? I need a cool voice for my cab intro!

I've wondered if those who can do voice impersonations actually hear their voices as they are. There are occasions when mine sounds like it really is (or like my dad's), I enunciate or articulate something in a certain way, but most of the time no.
What I really liked about a lot of these actors is, despite the absolute terribleness of the contexts and stories, they really delivered. Recall, or go and listen to, the narrator for Cliff Hanger and see how bad it could sometimes be in contrast.
