I'm working on finishing touches for my CPO which has a centipede theme but isn't intended to look like the original CPO. I'd really like to get a complete image of the centipede "monster" that you see on the marquee and side art to weave in and out of several mushrooms along the front edge of my CP. I've vectorized a mushroom from a photo of my sideart that I'll use, but I don't think I can do much with parts of the centipede (the marquee centipede is partially obscured).

I don't suppose anyone has come across a good image of this, or has created one, or would be willing to create one (maybe using the marquee from arcadeart as a starting point?)? I'm not expecting anyone to jump and create one for me, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

I got involved in the marquee restoration over at arcade art, but I think quite a bit of the obscured creature is blocked in if I remember correctly. If you have some skills you could just borrow some of the textures from other parts of the creature. Check out centepede mame I think I spelled the title wrong when I reposted it.

Are you talking about "centiped marquee (unfinished)"? I've looked at that one in inkscape. Unfortunately I'm no artist, and I'm new to inkscape and vector images in general, so while I'm sure a full creature could be created out of the parts that are there, I think it would take a lot more effort than it should for me to do it.

Since I don't think this is going to happen unfortunately (I hoped I'd luck out and someone would say "yeah, I have that!"), I'm currently trying to figure out my plan B.

I'm open to ideas. Here's where I'm at with my panel. I have swappable panels, so the green rectangle and everything in it is the "swappable" part. Everything outside of it is the "fixed" (non-removable) part. I plan to keep the swappable part simple like that (I'm satisfied with that part but feel free to make suggestions). The part along the top is for buttons (exit, pause, p1, p2, p3, p4, pause, exit), located on each of the + marks.

It's the part along the bottom, and to a lesser extent the sides, where I'd like to add some finishing touches. My original idea was to have the centipede head sticking up the left side, with body along the bottom, weaving in and out of some mushrooms. I didn't intend to populate it with mushrooms to the degree that the marquee has them, but enough to make it look good without making it overly crowded/busy.

So that's the background. Now I'm trying to come up with the plan B. One idea I had which I'm not really in love with but may pursue as a worst case scenario is to have actual game graphics of the centipede, spider, mushrooms, etc. in that same area (maybe a centipede weaving in and out on the lower half of the left side and then along the bottom).

Any great ideas? I only want Centipede-themed images and I want it to have a nice flow.

No wonder I didn't find it! "centepede" :)

Thanks. Still not sure what I'm going to do. I may pay to have the graphic made. I tried creating some actual game graphics, but didn't like it (and the wife said NO WAY). So at this point I think it's either pay to have it made or just go without.

Just wanted to update the thread for the record. No one here that I asked was willing or currently able to take on this task as a paid project, and I really don't have great artistic skills. I kind of dropped the whole CPO project for a while simply because of not knowing what I wanted to do with this, but finally decided to just go without the centipede creature altogether. Kind of a bummer, but at this point I just want to get it done. So I'm currently doing the finishing touches (making sure all graphics are properly placed since my CP already exists and adding button labels for exit, pause, and P1-P4).

I'm finally done (pending a final test print to verify that I didn't accidentally move any objects out of place!). Here is a low res version of the vector graphic I'm getting ready to send to Scott for printing. It's for a swappable panel style CP, so as you can tell I'm making 5 copies of the swappable part (the 1st one will be cut out from the middle of the "fixed" part of the CP). Also, this CPO wraps to the underside of my panel, with the bend coming just below the mushroom clusters.

My swappable CP's include single 4/8 way joystick, double 8 way joystick, trackball/spinner, analog joystick (coming soon), and lightgun (coming whenever an acceptable lightgun is available!). I will also have a specialized tron panel (I have an actual tron stick and spinner), but that is a special case that won't get these graphics. I will probably just paint it the same dark blue as the background of this image so it matches color wise.
