Freebox Jukebox Skinning Software Tutorial Available?
« on: July 23, 2008, 05:23:08 pm »
Well, I am about to get started on my touchscreen jukebox build. I have been looking around all over online for the software that I would like to use. I have decided on Freebox. The only problem is I have a different taste in skins. I am totally up for creating one myself. The only problem is the skinning software that comes packaged with Freebox is well, how do I put it.. All over the place... I open the skinning software and as I am clicking around trying to make heads or tails of what is what. I find myself totally lost. If I drag something out of the way there is another layer of tons of elements right below it. If I click on anything on the screen it comes up asking me to open an image file. I can usually figure things out pretty well but I am honestly lost haha..

I have been looking around for awhile now and found a skin that I really really like. It looks like it was based off of the Sooloos system found here. http://www.sooloos.com/www/downloads/assets.html

There is a guy who has created a wonderful skin for his Freebox jukebox to look like the sooloos skin. Only problem is he says he has lost the skin itself due to a hard drive failing but he says he has all of the elements backed up on another machine he just has yet to re-create it. You can see his sweet juke and skin here.

So I guess what I am looking for is either a tutorial or some decent links that point me in the right direction. I started digging around on the freebox forums but it looks like many are looking for more info and have come up short on how to use the skinning software. In the meantime I will keep playing around but hopefully someone will point me in the right direction.

Or if you have the skin mentioned above please let me know. It would be for my personal use only.

Thanks so much for any information or help you can provide.
Have a great afternoon,
Neil
