What's New at EmuMovies (July 08)
« on: July 06, 2008, 12:01:24 am »
Thought it would be a good time to give everyone a quick update on the EmuMovies Project.  Been so tied up with MAME stuff that I haven't really taken a break in awhile.  Anyway here is what's new.

- Mame .125 Beta Video Snaps Torrent Released

- Sega Game Gear Box Scans Added - 212 Files

- Sega Saturn Game Manuals Added - 60 Files

- Sony Playstation Boxes (Covers) Added - 1397 Files

- Sony Playstation Manuals Added - 423 Files

- Sega CD Snaps Added - 161 Files

- Sega CD Titles Added - 161 Files

- Sega CD Boxes Added - 166 Files

- Sega CD Cart (CD) Scans Added - 154 Files

- Sega CD Manuals Added - 151 Files

- 3DO Boxes Added - 292 Files

- 3DO Cart (CD) Scans Added - 56 Files

- 3DO Game Manuals - 44 Files

- ZX Spectrum in development with WIP on FTP

In addition to the new content the website itself has had a few needed upgrades.  The entire site got a much needed facelift with an updated home page, contact page and an entirely rebuilt news page than finally matches the rest of the site and is error free.  Also fun information and status pages have been designed for all the different Arcade, Console, Handheld and Computers listed on the site.  I have also syndicated the gameex news feed into the news section (If any other Front-End developers out there have an RSS feed for their progress, pls let me know)

I will be cooped up in a hotel room for the entire week so I am going to make some more headway on the different artwork packs and start back on videos again when I get home.

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Very nice.

So, what does it take to have a front end listed on your "Featured Front-Ends" area?  I'd like to see HyperSpin on the list eventually.  I also use EmuMovies on my cabinet from within Maximus Arcade as well.

I have been wanting to record some videos as well and help contribute if possible.  What do you use to record your videos?

I use camtasia or fraps (using camtasia more these days) capture the intro then a healthy amount of gameplay.  Then I edit it in vdub (using xvid codec def settings and radium mp3 codec 128k).  During the edit I try to get a good 25-27 sec of gameplay with 3-5 sec of intro.  Also in vdub I will crop the video if neccesary and size to 640x480 HiQ or 320x240 SQ.

All captures are made at a 640x480 resolution minimum the edit and resized to whatever quality of set I am working on.

The only other thing is to use a standard naming convention (No-Intro, Goodmerge, TOSEC)

If you are interested in helping click the "Join Now" button on the contacts page at emumovies.com.

As far as the front-ends on the front page, hyperspin will definately be there soon, I have had quite a few conversations with bad boy bill and his team has been working on converting my video sets to the hyperspin format and will be hosted on the emumovies ftp.  I also need to contact the maximus arcade folks, I have had a cross promotion going with gameex testing the last couple of months and it seems to be working very well.

I did syndicate hyperspin news to my newspage though :)
