Very nice.

I wonder what the payments would be?
Maybe take out a loan for 480 months?  ;D

Thats a lot of cake  ;D for a Mustang with a bunch of bolt-ons. What would it cost to buy a new GT and build that? 36k?

But you don't get the Shelby name when you do that  :P

I was actually thinking the same thing.  The mustang is an excellent entry level performance car, but for that much money I would want something quite a bit nicer.

If I had that much to spend on a car, I'd want Enzo Ferrari's name on it anyway.  ;)

Shelby has lost a lot of cred to me. I loved Cobra's and 66-70 Mustangs, but he's stuck his name on some pretty sketchy stuff over the years, from Dodge Omni's and limp wristed Daytona's and pickup trucks.  :P
The Series 1 is pretty cool, and what I'd consider a "real" Shelby, and it ended up being kind of a lame duck with overstated horsepower. Wouldn't surprise me if the Mustang is the same way. Ford seems to be way overestimating horsepower on Mustangs in the last 10 years.

That's pretty sweet.  Would love to have a Mustang Saleen though.   :)

If I had the choice between that or the GT, I'm not sure what I would take.

Ultimately I will get a nice '67 fastback that someone spent a lot of cash building up and will not get the same money out of it.  Non-matching numbers so I can drive the crap out of it.

That will look nice on my lift in the 3 car garage I will be building shortly.

mpm32, I don't think I have any digital pics, but I had a 67 Fastback. It was a factory 289 4 speed with disc brakes. The weird thing is that it wasn't a GT, but the only GT option it was lacking was the grill lights... It also had none of the extras like the Pony interior or Rally Pack. Was a really cool car, but suffered from having to be my daily driver. The guy I sold it to had it totally stripped and restored.

After that, I had an 87 LX 5.0 with a lot of bolt-ons. That was a great car. I sold it to a buddy and his girlfriend wrecked it in like a month.

Nice,

My uncle has a '67 with a 351 in it.  He keeps on threatening to give it to me, hasn't happened yet.  It's an automatic anyway.   ::)

That's an awfully expensive ford....

I do have a soft spot for true Shelby cars though - and this does seem to be true to what Shelby used to do so well.  My father had a 289 AC Cobra (not mustang - a real Cobra) that I have fond childhood memories of.

For just south of $200k I'd be wanting something a bit more exotic however.....Ford just doesn't have that italiano ring to it  ;D
