Basically.. i bought an "OSMART" controller to use with my NES and N64 Emulators, and I can't figure out how to work the dang thing.  It's a USB controller and its supposed to be plug and play.  I've tried to go through add/remove hardware, but it says that the "human USB controlling device" (or something) is working.  Alas, i'm just a girl!  Help?  PLEASE? :-*  OOoh.. and P.S. - i suppose you'd need to know what kinda OS i have and such.  I am running win2000.. heeeeellllpppp!

Unfortunately I know nothing about the OSMART USB controller you talk about but I must admit that I am impressed and a little bit turned on with the idea of a female being a member of this forum.

Good stuff, there's a chick on the forum.

Sorry, no help from me either, but I just wanted to add something off topic.

When I was first starting out with Linux, I would frequent the #linux channels on IRC.  I wasn't getting much help from people there, people screaming 'RTFM!' all the time.

So...I changed my nick to 'Sarah' and my contact details to 'Sarah Liston' in case someone did a 'whois.'  You should have seen them fall over themselves to help me then!

Which emulators are you using?  In PJ64 (N64) you have to select the controller and then configure it.

Well.. see.. right now i'm using mainly just the NES emu... Nestron i believe.  I do have PJ64, but i have no roms (and i know better then to ask where i can get some, thank you!) at the moment.  But even so... In nestron, it asks me to select either NONE (and then use keyboard controls, ew) or select USB Human interface device (which I assumed would be a usb controller of any sort?)..i chose the 2nd option and all the previous keyboard controls get wiped out and get replaced with "X Axis" - for ALL controls.  So wtf is up with that, i have no idea..  Can't anyone help?  *sob*  :-[

I would agree with spectre....I would say either use Nesticle or RocknesX.

Does the controller work for any other games you have on your pc or does it just not work using that emu?

I'll check into nesticle and that RocknesX thing.. and to answer Aceldemor's question, i bought it specifically for nes and n64 emu's..so i havent tried it on anything else, and i dont really have another PC game i'd use it for.. so i dunno?  After trying to configure the controller in Nestron, it would let me use the left arrow direction on the controllers' D pad, but thats it.. weird huh?  any suggestions?

Ok i think i know your problem ;) (i prob dont tho)

Go to control panel then go to gaming options

Now if your joystick aint there u need to click add

when u have clicked add a new list of joysticks pops up click add other

Now you must click the have disk button then go to the folder that the joystick was installed in and u should see a file or files just pick whichever inf file it shows

then click ok then next then finish then you should have it installed :)

If that dosent work or no files are found in the joystick folder

Go back to the start and click add

then look through the list for 1 that describes your joystick

if you cant see 1 that matches then click custom and then select the options

now your joystick should work :)

------------------------------------------------------------------
When you install a usb joystick it install the drivers
but dosent set te joystick up in the joystick settings
i maybe wrong and u may see it here but im sure u
wont so just try what i said above if u dont understand
(my bad explaining) then reply back and i'll make a quick webpage with images on what to do :)
