Samba de Amigo on Wii

I guess we all know it should be released in August. If it's right, that will mean buying a "current" games console for the first time since my Atari 2600

I'm a bit worried that it's not developped by the Sonic team though. However, the pics look like they're keeping to the original quite closely.

They will HAVE to release add-on real maracas of course !

Man, I really wish they didn't add the whole Mii thing.  I might still buy it, though, because my Dreamcast maracas are unreliable.

It's funny how Samba De Amigo is the game that's finally selling you on the Wii, because I always thought that the technology the game employed way back when has been improved upon in so many other games (e.g. Wii Sports) that have helped sell-out Wiis from the get-go.

But conversely, I do have fond memories of that game and it's great that it's no longer a $200 investment (not including the Wii console, of course) for a full, two-player experience.   And Wii Sports doesn't have Ricky Martin tunes!   ;D

Personally, I don't want any add-on maracas.  I already have a closet full of Wii remote add-ons (wheel, nunchuks, classic controllers, Guitars, balance board, etc.)

I've played the Wii, and I like it, but I also have a house full of arcade games. I've got a DC with two sets of maracas but like NickG's they're unreliable. (They're both different brand of imitations).

I already noticed that the maracas are not selling for high prices anymore....

But, the wires are clumsy. The Ultrasonic system is far from perfect. The bar on the floor is a major draw-back as I have to move around furniture to be able to play a good (free moving) two player game. I'm hoping the WII version will improve on all these issues. But not having physical maracas in hand will feel wrong. I'm a percussionist/drummer and I want to feel the "real" thing, not the fake samples coming from the controllers' speaker.

I'm actually betting on people who are already tired of their Wii and getting a used one :D
