Opening a playstation controller connector
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:07:30 pm »
I own three Guncon1's for PS1, and two of them have started to wear out.  This is what happens when you let people play with your collection, but what fun is a collection if it collects dust?

One has a trigger problem but it's easy enough to remove all the screws of the guncon to get at it's guts.  My problem is the other broken one, the video passthough has a loose connection somewhere where the video passthough line goes into the connector, you know, that plug part that you stick into the PlayStations controller port.  I think it should be an easy solder job to repair it but, how the hell do you open one of these things up?  The Namco plug seems nearly identical to standard PlayStation plugs, with the exception of the second thin wire leading in.

It all seems to be crimped in pretty tight, has anyone disassembled and required THIS end of a PS controller before?
