You could take a scrap piece of wood, use a hole saw on it, and use the leftover 'plugs' to fill the holes on your CP using wood glue and wood filler.

This is a good idea. The only problem is that the plug won't be an exact fit, due to the kerf cut by the hole saw. You might want to have a board behind the plug to support it, since the filler won't provide a whole lot of support. Either that or cut an over-sized plug and sand it to fit the hole exactly.

G1zm0, I'm not surprised that Bondo isn't available in the UK but I'd be surprised if there wasn't some brand of auto-body filler available...

I filled the holes I cut in my vertical CPs by accident (doh!) with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler thats designed to fill holes/gaps deeper than 5mm. You should be able to find it in B&Q or similar

You can clamp a piece of wood etc to the back of the CP and then fill from the top. Over fill the hole slightly and then sand it flat once dry. You may have to apply some more filler if you have any small gaps after the first sanding (and then sand again)

You can then flip the thing over and touch up the other side if required.

Happ makes special button plugs for just this purpose.  http://www.happ.com/pushbuttons/52621200.htm
I'm sure you could get them from dm or ponyboy here on the B/S/T board.

They won't be flush with the top of the cp though.  What about using washers?  When I drill my holes I was going to use wood under the metal so the washers can be attached to it for support.  Then use wood filler to make the washer flush with the top.

got it done, the buttom holes on cp had a bigger hole at back of cp, so i cut a plug that sise glued it in then filed it with filler, then sanded it, on front i just layerd it with the filler, if it dont work i will plug that to and do it, just hop they drill ok when i put new stuff on it
