Galaxian Cocktail Underlay
« on: September 21, 2007, 01:13:32 pm »
Does anyone know where I can find some vector artwork for a galaxian cocktail underlay?     I'm going to have to have a custom one made as my cabinet isn't the standard size.   I've searched and can't find one anywhere.

Ok, I found a site that has a repro underlay, but it still isn't going to work for me because my size isn't standard.   I'm thinking I might just have to make my own.   I'm not a wiz at illustrator but I think I can make it work.

Does anyone have a hi-res copy of the scoring / instruction sheets for the cocktail game?   I found one online, but it's pretty low res.

For anyone that might be familiar with the original game, I'm trying to figure out the correct colors.   I found another thread about this.

Attached is an image of the repro underlay and also an original flyer image.  The colors seem off in the repro.   The original seems more red / orange.

Any help would be appreciated.

I messed around with AI a bit, and I was able to take the marque vector and cut / paste it into a another file and I came up with this.   If I can add in the instruction / scoring cards I think I'll be in good shape.   When I'm done this should be a "standard" size underlay.     I'll modify it for my custom size when I get done.

I found a galaxian instruction card on Crazy Kong Scans.

Or maybe you can use the stuff from the Classic Arcade Graphics group buy

I checked out those links but that instruction card is for the upright version.    I was really hoping to get a good image of the original and work from there.  Hopefully someone has one.  I could fake it, but I'd like to get as close to original as I can.

Once I get it finished I'll post the vector image for anyone else who is looking for this underlay.

I found a couple of original artwork images and I was able to create a vector image that is close to the original.  Close enough I think.

I might have to play around with the colors a bit once I put the pieces all together.

The top image is an original.  Mine is below.

I also found this image from another thread.   Comparing a reproduction to the original (neither of which is mine).  I think my second ship color is a bit off, and I can adjust that

Any updates to this?  I'm gonna scratch-build a Galaxian Cocktail and would like to know what you used.
