Jamma RGB to S-Video..........
« on: May 26, 2003, 06:49:28 pm »
Has anyone tried out the IC's that you can wire to change the Jamma RGB and sync to an S-Video to go to a tv?

I know that there is one built by JROK but for $100 I could almost buy a used arcade monitor if I could find one close by.

I have a 27" tv with s-video just sitting around and would like to use it for MAME and Jamma if I can get this to work.

Chips are the NTE879 or the Analog AD724.
Supposed to have instructions on the package but I'm no electrical engineer and might have some problems with getting it all to work.

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick

Actually, from what I've heard the current batch of the converters cost $75.

Oh yeah, unless you do surface mount stuff (either have the proper equipment, or have mad soldering skills) forget the Analog AD725 (you said 724, but I'm pretty sure the RGB to NTSC encoder is the AD725). The pins coming out of it are less than 1/16" long, and like 1/32" wide.
