Build FE in-game list from games in ROMS dir.
« on: May 27, 2003, 01:35:03 am »
Any of you FE guys have the ability to cross-reference the list from MAME -listinfo (to get the Name, orientation, etc) against the ROMs I actually have in the configured ROMs dir? I.E. If I have 1800 or so out of the full list, is there a way for me to have only the games I have appear on the game list without editing in/out an enormous number from the default list?

Just curious.

I think all mame parsers of the major fe's cand do this. I actually don't know of one that does not...
(In mine the parser in the internal utility asks for this at the beginning in a yes/no popup box...)

Most FE's do that, only list the games you have.

FE's that don't have this option are considered primative in features.  I haven't seen one that can't do this since the old dos fe days.

Odd. I have the complete set, and MameWah never MENTIONED that it was doing that, so I just assumed it was doing a listinfo dump. Very cool.

Why would it?  Why in the world would you want games included in your list of games to launch that you don't have?

Common sense alert! ;)

Haha! Surely you will admit that there are more than one sense-bending feature/lack of feature in the most popular FEs :)
