Orion A-ONE chassis + ArcadeVGA questions
« on: March 23, 2008, 01:30:29 am »
Hello everyone,

I am new to this hobby, so please bear with me if my questions are a bit noob.  I recently acquired a cab with an Orion A-ONE monitor board, which is a Korean make.  I cannot discern any other numbers except that it is clearly a 25" tube and has a nice remote adjustments board marked "AM-0316F".  Is this similar to a Kortek?  I have been googling but there is very little info on Orions.

Can anyone provide further details on this such as schematics, etc.?  It works fine and looks as if some of the solder joints have been touched up already.  Is this a decent monitor to work with?

Moreover, I am using an ArcadeVGA board but the screen is quite dim compared to the old CPS2 JAMMA setup that I ripped out.  I know about the amplifier from Ultimarc and have one on order.  Can I expect that this will solve the dimness problem?  There are no other problems at all with this setup, which I am assuming requires a 5V signal for full brightness (which is likely only 1V from the VGA).

Thank you very much!

Kevin

orion is the same as kortek, which is the same as sharp image

to counter the picture quality have you tried contrast/brightness and gains adjustments yet

if you contact ultimarc they would be able advise on whether an amp will be needed

Thanks for your response,

I have emailed Andy at Ultimarc.  Am I correct in assuming that all JAMMA cabs require some sort of VGA amplification for full brightness?  If not using the J-PAC, I mean.

The Ultimarc video amp worked nicely, the picture is now big and bright like the original JAMMA setup.

I still wouldn't mind some more info on this Orion chassis though.
