Inductance meter- cheap but very useful like $30
« on: April 09, 2008, 05:09:14 pm »
Hi Guys... I know that there has been a few postings regarding yoke impedance and the cost of an inductance meter here is a link to a very stable and useful meter. Check it out http://www.circuitspecialists.com/prod.itml/icOid/3394

Now if you are going to check the inductance of a yoke here are some pointers"
- power off the monitor
- unplug the yoke from the board
- Red and blue usualy horizontal
- Green and yellow (sometimes brown) vertical
- for Horizontal expect around 1 to 1.5 if CGA, .5 to ,75 for mid-res, ,24 to .32 for VGA or tri-res
- .18 to .2 for SVGA and higher

Millihenry by the way

Vert will be any where between 6 and 34

you must have this before trying to order a replacement board... if not your supplier needs to be educated.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm.... that site only accepts credit cards. No Paypal, no money orders, no checks. Plus it gives me a Microsoft security warning to not trust the site.

Maybe Ken... but I have bought 4 meters from them 2 for me 2 for some local customers... not just recent either over the last 3 years.

I also supply the US Army and they have bought a number of meters.. have not heard any complaints.

Not my site so I guarantee but seemed fine.

I have money in my Paypal account and I would have bought one of those meters had they accepted Paypal. I don't own ANY credit cards. Never have and never will.

At that price I would have bought one. That company has lost a sale because they don't take Paypal.

Paypal can generate a temporary credit card number to use on online purchases.  It lasts once then becomes inactive.
