Yahoo Answers is full of Stupid People

Ever end up on a Yahoo Answers page thanks to Google? Ever bother checking "other questions" listed (usually not even related to what you just read)??

Some of the things posted just boggle my mind. There's some incomprehensible, whacked out or just plain weird things being "asked".

Maybe Yahoo users are former AOL subscribers?

But I agree, Put a computer in front of an idiot and they'll type something stupid...I mean, just look at this forum.

I just found out about Yahoo Answers last week.

It's great for contests that require you to watch a show and email in answers or code words.

Here are some I found at random, having come to Yahoo Answers via a Google search for "Smart Food" snack food. These are what prompted me to post this thread but I couldn't find them in my browser history until now:

People confusing heartburn for ulcers

Mother of two has obvious whiplash or worse but is more concerned about her job, and is asking Yahoo Answers what the odds are she'll need surgery.

And if you scroll down to the bottom of that one you'll see some interesting questions. The dumbest or wackiest tend to be in the "health" section. The best (or "worst" depending on how you want to qualify it) eventually get deleted.

I guess gullable people fall for the "if you play with it you will go blind" joke too. Saw a lot of questions about that.

It mostly seems like harmless things though.

With medical questions people sometimes hope they find someone who had the same thing. So they can ask them how it went. Of course a doctor can tell you the same (and probably better), but I've seen that a lot in real life too.
