FedEx no better than UPS
CheffoJeffo:
My last Fedex package came in with $10 in brokerage fees (plus taxes and duties) ... that's only $5 for than Canada Post and is reasonable (compared to the unknown/eleventy dollars that UPS charges).
As for declaring the value of fees and shipping in the customs declaration, I'm pretty sure that is against the law, so you should smack the shipper good.
I have had individual truck drivers skip out on delivery saying that I wasn't there ... last time was a Purolater driver trying to report that I was not there while delivering a bunch of servers. Sadly for him he was already late and I was on the phone the Purolater customer service at the exact time he said he attempted delivery. Oops.

This is common worldwide for Fedex and UPS..... I've had drivers fail to turn up at all and then claim that they tried to deliver. Strangely enough they left no card here to say they tried to deliver. Smaller couriers even in the UK are more reliable than these clowns.
It seems to me that your US Postal Service has been without doubt the most reliable service when I've ordered something from the USA. That in fact gets handed over to the Royal Mail when it arrives in the UK. They're usually not too bad. I can only recall two instances when I've had a problem with them and I do ship and receive a lot of stuff.

Don't even get me started on delivery services. Last week I sent a Bar-Top machine to a customer in Europe, and most of the handling was done by UPS. Wanna see what happened to it?

I'm pretty sure it's against the law as well. And yet they say that's how they 'always' ship product. They claim they're going to fax a fixed declaration this morning but I'm going going to hold my breath.
