Ow - that would be bad

That's nasty.  When I was like 6 my stepbrother and I used to ride our bikes around the apt complex he lived in.  There were a lot of clothesline areas segmented off by chain link fences and we used to pretend to be Pac Man and ghosts along with about 5 other kids.  One of the jerkwad neighbors decided she didn't want us doing it anymore, but rather than say anything, she strung a fishing line across one of the openings.  Caught my stepbrother right in the forehead and ripped him off the bike, split him open, made him crack his head on the pavement.  I still remember that vividly.  Very nasty.  It got really ugly in that part of the complex for the next couple of weeks.

The wire stretched across the border road and led into Mexico through a hole in the primary fence...

That's no trap, that's a new international can-to-can calling line.

When I was in Teeball, two of my teamates were playing tag after practice. At a separation of some property there was a line of barb-wire. The first kid saw it and ducked - the second kid did not. He caught the wire right across the neck at full speed. He still has scars from that incident.

They'd probably just sue Border Patrol for damaging their wire after some poor agent got killed anyway.

When I was 9 or 10, our neighbor was chasing my older brother who had just played a practical joke on him. The neighbor, who was about 6'6" and 275lbs, caught a cloths line right in the mouth. As his feet went forward his head hit the pavement. He had several stitches in each corner of his mouth and in the back of his head. Not pretty.

Where I grew up, it wasn't uncommon to find toppled fences, old power lines, whatever. It's heavy snow country so putting up fences are usually out of the question, yet every summer, some moron (usually from the valley) insists on putting up a fence of some kind. The locals just put up No Trespassing signs or they build rock walls or use heavy timber.

Unfortunately, one common moronic method of fencing was tapping trees as fence posts and stringing barbed wire. Usually, the seasoned natives would cut the barbed wired down for safety reasons. One summer, a couple of out of town high school kids were riding dirtbikes when one of them came across a  section of barbed wire mounted between trees. He was riding so fast, the barbed wired cut his neck all the way to the spine then wrapped around him. The other kid(s) had no clue what happened and kept riding.

It was about four days of searching and retracing the trail before S&R found him.
