Armor Attack
« on: May 12, 2003, 10:55:40 am »
I recently bought an Armor Attack machine that works perfect except that only half the screen is visible.  The monitor is bad and I was wondering if there is another alternative(pc monitor,tv or something else) to get this game running.  Vector monitors are hard to come by and very unreliable.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible.

Sorry. There is no cheap or easy solution other than to repair the monitor you already have.

Really, there isn't. :'(

Black and white vector monitors are very reliable...and fairly easy to troubleshoot.  Your problem is of course a deflection problem.  If you use newsgroups I bet you can get a specific answer on how to fix it.  Ask the question on rec.games.video.arcade.collecting.

I fixed an asteroids monitor with no experience...I believe that Armor Attack uses a different model.

Now, forget all I just said and sell me your broken AA cheap!

It sounds like you have a bad transistor or cold joint.  Fairly easy fix.
As far as alternatives, I've never seen a vector -> raster converter, and I'd assume it would not be cheap if it did exist.
