I was just curious.

is there a place to download or buy original games for mame developed by the team or designers. I'm not looking for copies of arcade games that really existed now or in the past, but original works

There are no new Mame games that I am aware of (if there were they would have to go in an alternate build, since Mame only emulates the real games or something).

But quite a few people still develop for the Atari 2600 and Nes.

Atariage.com has most of the new Atari 2600 games available for purchase on real cartridges and for free download.
