Slik Stik - Any Word
ArcadEd:
Wow, I kind of read the jist of this thread and I just wanted to make a few comments to these customers that are getting misinformation.
1. I order overlays from Scott on a weekly basis, most recently on a daily basis. I've never had them delayed, or any kind of problem with them.
2. I order from Andy all the time as well, and I have never had a problem with any of his products, especially iPacs. Over 9 years of building arcade related items, I have never once had Andy be out of stock of something. I've had 1 bad iPac over the years as well. Andy fixed it quickly.
3. Happ does run out of trackballs from time to time, usually it's when a big company orders thousands of them. I've heard it from my rep a few times. But you know what, you need to prepare for that. They always have Balls in stock, and I keep at least 3 colors of each ball on hand. If Happ is a month or two out on shipping trackballs, I go to ebay or ponyboy. Usually someone stocks new happ 3" trackballs of some color. Just swap the balls and you are good to go.
It's just really sad when you can't take the time to answer emails. When my 360 controller went live a few weeks ago I had 100's of emails a day for a bout a week. You know, I answered everyone one of them, all by myself. It doesn't take a whole lot of time when you just sit down and do it.
It kills me to see people so unhappy with a company, and the company does nothing about it. It amazes me they have been in business this long. How can it take months to build a control panel? I just don't get it. In the past, Christian has PMed me when I have said "I make control panels" in one of the anti slikstik threads. Stating it wasn't cool to do that. Well you know what Christian, blow it out your --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules--. Because totally screwing customers isn't very cool either.
I look at it this way. When I order something, I'm excited to get it. Waiting months would be killer. I work alone, I do all of my design work, building, shipping, email answering. I manage to always get items out in 2-3 weeks. I'll tell you what, an Arcade-In-A-Box takes a lot long to build than just a control panel. Plus I have a full time job, a wife, and a 2 year old that I am home with every night (except in november when holiday orders are coming in).
I should note, I work my full time job remotely from my AIAB shop.
Anyway. Sorry about all of that. I just want to say to people looking for control panels, find someone else that can do it besides slikstik. There are a ton of good companiies, many have been listed in this thread, that will do a fantastic job for you. LIsten to the people around here.
If i've "blackballed" myself from slikstik. Oh well, GGG has a kick --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- spinners anyway. I would rather stay close friends with Kevin Steele, Scott Prior, and Andy Wayne than slikstik any day fo the week. Why? Because I know my business would be nothing without them.
Red:
I second what ArcadEd said about him e-mailing all his potential customers. I've yet to order from him as I'm still saving up, but his great attitude toward customer service is awesome.
He replied quickly to all my questions and concerns and I'm looking forward to doing business with him in the future because of this.

Hi Andy,
**1** After the "faulty IPAC shipment" bull-story from SlikStik, are you still partnering with them to offer their spinner tops on your SpinTrak spinners ??
I saw a thread a while back, that said the Ultimarc rotary encoder produces erratic behaviour in MAME.
Has this been fixed by the "updated rotary chip" to which XtraSmiley refers ??
Andy, do you think there would be a benefit in similarly modifying your rotary encoder, to allow software customisation of the timings ??

No there would not be any benefit in having adjustable timings. Once the change was made this cured the problem completely. If anyone has the older chip, including in a Slikstik unit, I will replace it.
On the other matter, we have a large stock of the spinner knobs and it would be a shame to lose them in the future as they are great quality. Quality seems never to have been an problem with Slikstik, which is why its a shame about the other "issues".
I have spoken to Chris many times and always found him pleasant and he has always paid for our stuff on time. The stories on this thread simply cannot be ignored though and I just cant understand why he has not tried to address these problems and posted some explanation and apologies on here.
TPB:
Thanks for the reply Andy.
I'm happy to hear this.
I love the simple, no-fuss, "plug and play" design of your rotary encoder, that allows the Happs mechanical rotary joysticks (50-5618-00) to just "plug right in".
Now we can get back "on topic" ... anyone with any more news, on what the heck is happening over at Slikstik ??
Christian, are you out there ... anywhere ??

Being that you are their partner, can you get ahold of them?
