Newb question
« on: September 12, 2007, 03:18:15 pm »
When installing a 1 to 4 jamma adapter should I mount the card on the bottom so that I can stick the other cards straight down into?  If so would I need to take the cards out every time I move the cabinet?  I want to make sure I do everything right too.  There is a guide to this I bet.

I have just installed one in my commando cab (i will post pictures later tonight)
what i did is, i build Jamma extensions, for that you need a jamma harness and a fingerboard.

the jamma harness goes to the pcb, and the finger board to each slot, that mean you will have to do some work on it (solder the wires to the finger board)
that solution give you the possibility to secure all the pcb and the main 4in1 board to the cab, and moving the cab wont be a problem...

you also can put the 4in1 in the bottom of the cab, and slide the pcb vertically in it, the problem is depending on the weight of each pcb  :-\ if to heavy, it can bend and broke the slot on your main 4in1, moving the cab will be recommended without the pcb inserted ...
unless you found a way to secure them so they do not move  :P

Thats a really good idea.  I thought about looking for something like that but I could not find it.  So I need then, to buy 4 harness's and 4 finger boards.

Question for you, what kind  of power supply are you useing?  I figure I might have a problem with my current one as I dont know if it works correctly or not.  I plugged in pit fighter and I did not get any sound.  I dont have a tv hooked up yet but I thought I should at least have sound.

make sure that you have connected the -5 v
to the pcb... that probably why you do not have any sound  ;)
(not all games use -5) but that one does ...

for PSU you can find some on ebay for cheap ...

I am refering to the power supply.  If I run 4 cards would I need 300 watts of power?  Also, how did you wire everything?  Kick harness?  Is there a book or guide some where I can get to start wireing this thing up right?  Where did you buy your figer boards from?  Sorry about the enslaught of questions, just tring to plan and get this thing done

you do not need a 300 watts PSU...because the 4in1 power only one game at a time.
when one is on, the 3 others are off...

the best way to wire all pcb to the 4in1, is to buy jamma harness, and jamma fingerboard

all of this can be found on ebay...

If you are already afraid of soldering that one tiny wire, how are you going to deal with the fingerboards/harnesses ?

I'd like to have one of those 4 in 1, where did you get them ? (That is if it's not from E-bay)...
