Lanzarote Arcades
« on: September 02, 2007, 04:03:31 pm »
Was on holiday on Lanzarote.... Darth Nuno asked me to take some pictures. Although I still feel looking foolish when taking pictures inside arcades, I made some shots...

Here they are:

1st pic:

My wife claims I influenced my son A LOT with my hobby, since he wanted to go into EVERY arcade we came across and even asking we'd go if one was not in sight :D

2nd pic:

Hah, the guy is Building his Own Arcade Control, or rather he seems to be repairing it with some bondo-like stuff (smelt very strong !). It's a Gaelco Football Power, which looked interesting with that ball on the bottom, but I'm not into football games :D

3rd pic:

We stayed in Puerto de Carmen, which basically is a large strip across some very long beaches with the usual touristic stuff: restaurants where you can NOT eat the local food, souvenier shops selling everything fake you can think of (even Ipod's that looked VERY real), bars and of course the regular arcades......well let's be happy that the arcade still survives in some way.

Almost every arcade looked the same, and I guess they were owned by the same company. This is one of them. The girls on the right laughed out loud just after I took the picture, I guess they thought I wanted a picture of THEM  :laugh2: :laugh2:

Basicaly there are all kinds of games, video, pool, gambling (separate area, above 18), and a number of internet pc's. Generaly the games were in pretty worn-out state, often not-working or bad picture etc.
The "operators" were woman who looked to be too bored to bother....

There was one decent arcade that was actually situated in a mall that WAS very decent and well maintained, but I didn't have my camera there...

4th pic:

Inside: I had never seen games like that on the left (the red one's). Basically a combo of billiards and bowling....weird.

5th pic:

Internet section, to the right/back, gambling. On the left/back: Crazy Taxi, yeah ! Got it on my DC so I gave it a spin. I sat down on the bench and almost fell through it !!! I'm not the lightest person on earth, but this was dangerous....and making it harder to play  ::)

6th pic:
Now  THIS is interesting: Looks like there are some BYOACers on the island !!!
Your regular Time Crises that came with projection screens originaly. Obviously these failed, and they simply decided to put in TV's !!! Another proof of the great SCART hack :D

I was touched by the total lack of effort to try to cover up the TV surroundings....

Ha, cool. I think I've been in the same place.

I was in Puerto del Carmen on Lanzarote a few years ago. There was another arcade in a mall a few kilometers away and another one in Puerto del Carmen away from the strip.

yes welcome to spain,i loved the time crisis deluxe mod(could have used bigger tubes)
the mall arcade was probably operated by VID,they have a lot of new games
one thing you really notice in spanish arcades is the fact no one knows what convergence means :(
