I have an old lowboy at home that has a generic “Latest Game” marquee. These marquees were standard on many Australian arcade cabinets, enabling the shop owner to write (or stick) the name of the game in the space provided on the marquee (for easy game swapping).
Artwork was generally bright/colourful with large shapes and images (such as stars and bubbles), and often had the title “LATEST GAME” within the artwork, usually above a special blank space reserved for the game name. The likes of Wonderboy and Bubble Bobble were a staple of such a cabinet.
I was wondering if anyone had any similar artwork images of old-style generic marquees. I’m thinking of going down this path on my soon-to-be-built cabinet, and would like some more inspiration for re-creating one of these marquees. The one I have is predominantly orange and blue with stars, but I was hoping to see one of those more colourful versions I mentioned (usually black with green, pink, blue, yellow).
If anyone can post any images that would be great.
When I get a chance I’ll post the current marquee I have.
