Is this what I want for my cocktail top?
« on: August 01, 2007, 11:45:16 pm »
I'm going to be making a new top for a Midway cocktail, and was wondering if this is the right tool for recessing the smoked plexi....

Rabbet bit

I'm guessing I could get the 1/4" one, and set the depth so it cuts 1/8" deep to match the 1/8" smoked plexi.

This would be done after I cut the monitor opening, riding the bearing along the inside edge.

Hope this makes sense.  Everything I've learned about woodworking has been from this hobby,so I don't always know the right terms, whereas an experienced woodworker would look at the top and say..."yup, thats a rabbet, get yourself a rabbet bit"

Thanks,
Stobe

yup...

looks good to me...

the 1/8" would allow it to sit flush and it would just sit in there...

are you planning on having regular glass covering the entire top...?
