Melamine faced MDF/Partcleboard???
« on: July 31, 2007, 11:06:00 am »
Can anybody point me to a decent UK supplier of either MDF or Particleboard faced with black melamine.
I'm in the UK and have tried Wickes and Homebase without much luck. They only sell small boards for use in shelving and its only white.

Other than that, where would it be possible to but the actual laminate and I will apply it to the cabinet myself.
Thanks

Laminating stuff yourself usually doesn't pay. It's more expensive, more work, and the laminate generally doesn't adhere as well as melamine. Though if you don't have a saw blade designed for cutting melamine-covered particle board cleanly, it does allow you to apply the laminate after the pieces have been cut to size.

Unfortunately, I don't know where you'd get it in the U.K. Anyone that sells full-sized sheets of white melamine should be able to special-order black or any of the other available colors. A local full-service lumber yard is probably your best bet...

Thanks. I know a few timber/lumber yards nearby. Will  have to go see what they can do for me.
