Halo themed cake
« on: July 17, 2007, 09:43:19 am »
I did a Halo themed cake for a friend this weekend.  I've been wanting to do some type of video game cake for a while now.  Next I would love to try a SMB cake  :P.  This cake design is loosely based on mp levels Coagulation and Valhalla.  I thought it turned out pretty well.
I'll have the website updated in a few days for more pics and the build process.

I posted the videos on Break and Youtube:

Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

Niiiice.  What part of that is edible other than the base?  I used to do cakes at a bakery while in HS.... that's good work.

Thanks.  Just the base is edible.  Seemed like plenty.  It is 3 14" rounds which is equivalent to 6 box cakes.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

Internal supports for the big centerpiece, then?  That thing looks heavy and it's not sinking.

Damn that is awesome. I almost didn't watch the video, but glad I did.
How long did it take you to do all that?

Wow, that's a seriously cool cake. Impressive with all the animations there too.

Took about two weeks.
There are no internal supports for the cake part.  I'd say I got REALLY lucky here because we got the cakes all stacked on there and then thought about support, doh.  Just lucky it didn't sink I guess.  The center tower does set into 2 wooden dowels so the cake does not support it.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.
