I think the battle scene would look killer if it took up the whole background. Anything else on the right side would throw the whole thing out of balance.

Of course, I'm a major stickler for symmetry - it may work just fine for you.

Try mirroring it and see what you think.

I would also suggest mirroring that image on the other side, but then changing the color scheme on that side. That way it would seem more like a two player FPS where each team is a different color.

I think you have a pretty sweet marquee there.  I like the 2 sided nature of it with the reds on the one side and the blues on the other.

Very nice, It looks like a commercial video game marquee to me.

I don't like the border on the right side. On the left it appears you are looking through blast doors, but on the right it looks chopped off. Do you have a picture of the guy on the right that isn't chopped off?

heres my rough copy for the control panel. it's still in a very rough stage but I'm kind of... running out of  ideas. That is, I don't know what else to put on there and I've run out of sources for high resolution vector images. So if any of you guys can point me to websites that have high res images of like... space tanks or something, that'd be awesome.

I like the artwork. I think the text can be bigger and it's hard to read. The R looks like an A.

The balance of the image is way off. It is very obvious that it is a cut/paste job -  specifically the girl and the ship. You might want to play with each individual image and try to spread you color theme throughout the CPO.

how about the controls?

maybe its just me, but I haaaaaate when there's so much going on, that it looks like a movie trailer with buttons sticking out of it. You should start with your control layout, and then see how you can fit stuff in.
