Pacman owners, please help!

Hello, I need to know if there is a ground that goes somewhere on a Pacman board. I have a board that doesnt do anything, and Im trying to determine if its suppose to have a ground attached somewhere. I got the harness for my game second hand, and it didnt come with any extra connectors or wires. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks

Comming out of the transformer is good, but the voltages on the board are not. Ive seen some pics of other Pacs where there is a yellow ground strap leading somewhere? Im trying the obvious stuf first. Ill check out the wiki. Thanks

I must have misunderstood.  Thought you didn't know where the grounds were on your PCB.   Here is a link to the Pucman/Pacman manual and a troubleshooting guide.   The board gets AC and has regulators on board if I remember correctly.  The regulators are often sold as repair parts.

The yellow straps won't help.   If you're ac volts are good but the chips don't have 5 volts to them then check the AC to DC section.

Do the Pacman cabs have a RF filter pcb between the wiring harness and the main board?  My Ms Pac had this board and the board was grounded by a yellow strap.  I also had voltage probelms.  Removing the filter board took my cab from not working to working.

I have a Pac Man that doesn't do anything when it's powered up.

It was in an employee cafeteria and about 10 years ago the monitor was failing so they put it into storage.  A guy working at the company 10 years ago swears it was working before it was put into storage.  I went over there this morning to look at it.  I plugged it in and turned it on and nothing happened.  I opened up the back and pushed the white button inside the back panel and I heard a surge of power, but nothing happened.  I'm guessing this button is the reverse of a refrigerator light switch.  When it's pushed the panel is on so it gives it power.

I don't know if that button means anything.  The marquee doesn't light up either, if that helps.   I took out the four fuses they all looked fine and I put them back in.  Still nothing.

The cabinet looks like it's had a lot of play, but it's a Pac Man so I want to get it going.

Is there anything I can do to make some initial test to see how bad it is?

Also if the monitor needs to be replaced, how hard is that?

Dartful: as long as you've been a member, you don't know what an interlock switch is?   

Check the fuses, of course, on the bottom of the cabinet.

If the monitor is an original G07, likely it needs the electrolytic caps replaced.

I checked the four fuses at the bottom.

My other cabinets don't have that switch, it was obvious what it was for.  But the only sound I could get from the cab was when I pushed that button in, so I figured I'd mention it in my post.  It might make that sound with the panel on, but I couldn't hear it.

I assumed the monitor was bad from the beginning, that's why it was taken out of the cafeteria, but the guy said even with the bad monitor the game would still play, but this was ten years ago.  I was hoping if I turned it on even with the bad monitor I'd get something, I'd feel a little better if at least the marquee turned on.

The warehouse is about an hour from my house.  They've had it in storage for 10 years, someone got motivated to do some house cleaning so they were going to throw it out. 

If I can get it working I can take it.

I'm going back next Saturday, I didn't have any time to do anything with it today, I just wanted to see it.  As you've noticed from my other posts, I don't trust people.  A friend's company throwing out a Pac Man sounded fishy, so I had to see it.

Have you measured voltage anywhere?  You might check voltage at the fuses, power plug at the marque, and coin door lights.  Checking voltage at the fuses will let you know if the transformer is putting out the correct voltage.  Checking the marque voltage should let you know if there is 110VAC at the light.

My Ms Pacman had the same symptoms as this Pacman.  The problem I had was a bad filter board.  When I removed the board, the game worked.
