I can't remember who here had asked me about these, but apparently there is an update.

What's his goal behind that project? To create a PPoaC? To create readily available replacement parts using modern IC's for dying PP boards? Just for  :censored: and giggles?

Couldn't find what you're talking about at Gameroom, but I did find a bunch of memos....

PP was really that bad? Coin errors, trace cuts, bad masks, bad ROM, bad RAM.... nice....

That was me.  I'm down to one or two Pole cabs here that need boards, I wonder if he'll finish the project before I unload them?

Either way, it's great that somebody's doing this.  We all owe that guy a beer!

Sorry, the link was just a gratuitous plug for GRM -- I don't think the article is available online.

Yes, PP was always that bad.  Unreliable out of the box.  Nearly impossible with reasonable effort levels now.

BTW, cool.  I have always loved PP and PPII... but even building a MAME based cab for it is dicey because of the calibration of the wheel.

I didn't have any wheel problems with my PP mame cabinet, though I ended up recompiling to add the proper shifter support   :dizzy:
