I have some pre-Jamma PCBs and am wondering if anyone has used a muti device for these older games ? Would it be possible to use a PCB -to- Jamma conversion on these older games, then attach to the multi Jamma ?
I am wondering anyone would like to share their thoughts on any particular multi Jamma product models ?
First, welcome to the boards!
Yes, you can typically (in my experience) use JAMMA adaptors for older boards in conjunction with a JAMMA switch.
As far as preferences for JAMMA switches, I own one of Clay's
Multi-Jamma kits and love it. Depending on the game, however, it can pose some problems since all boards are powered-up. At one point, I had Surf Planet and GT2K both installed in that cabinet. Unfortunately, they both use standard JAMMA controls for volume, so normal play in one game resulted in significant volume shifts in the other. When someone would hit the "Change Games" button, the volume would either disappear or shoot through the roof.
There are a few threads on here discussing the merits of the various options ... I would suggest a search on Multi-Jamma to start.
Cheers.
