Rewiring a 360 controller
« on: May 22, 2007, 06:31:29 pm »
Is there anyone here that can rewire a 360 controller so that the two analog sticks are switched.  I tend to play shooters where you look with the left hand and move with your right and some games just don't allow you to make that switch in the control options.  I have a remote that I would like wired so that the signals are switched and I can play the game the way my fingers want to play it.  Let me know, Thanks!!

Either turn it upside down, or stand on your head.

Seriously, it sounds like a pretty difficult hack. I have never seen the innards of a 360 controller though...

Hey I got your PM...  sorry so slow to get back to you.  I'm moving 2000 miles next week, and things are getting hectic.  Lol...

About your question...  Theoretically, it could be done.  It would involve cutting all the traces to both sticks and reversing the connections by soldering wires in place.  HOWEVER, this would be extremely hard to accomplish without damaging the controller in some way.

Once I get settled in Phoenix, there are some new controller projects I plan on tackling (Xbox 360 wireless, Gamecube).  I'll take a harder look at your question then, maybe I can come up with a solution!

Not a problem, hope your move goes well.  I have a friend in the AirForce and a Cousin that live in Phoenix.  They both love it, hope the same for you.

On the controller.  Whenever you can get a chance to check it out let me know.  The controller I have is a wireless and if it needs to have its shape altered to accommodate the changes then that is better then not being able to play the games at all.

Thanks for the Help!

I could swing it.

who's a llamma?

Took a look at that, that's how I thought it would be done.

Also, people...  northerngames has offered to hack 360 controllers for people in my absence, so hit him up if you need anything.  :D

as a lefty myself...I'm just adapted my gaming to a righty world, yet I do everything day to day with my left.

Thankfully back in the day most machines factored in both left/right handed people!......good luck with your hack.
Seriously. Will it fit in my basement or what?

Are any of the 3rd party xbox360 controllers better to hack?  Better in that maybe they have a common ground?
