I got this started - at least my wife says so :)

So, in the process of owning a DS, I purchased the Pokemon Diamond game for myself.  I've found it to be very enjoyable, much more so than the others in the genre I've tried.  It seems easier to build a strong team to me via this one, but perhaps I just never played far enough into the others.  At any rate, I digress...

My daughter, who is 4 1/2, caught me playing Diamond one day and wanted to try it.   She fell in love with all the little creatures and last weekend we all sat down and looked at the latest movie.

Like I said, I've created a monster.  Over the last few days, she's been rolling all her soft stuffed animals up into balls and telling us they're Pokemon. ...runs around going "Panda, I choose you!" , and throwing her panda, letting it unroll, et. al.

Just a small, slightly humorous story for those of you without kids...and for those of us with older children, perhaps you can commiserate!

Holy moly, I hope my daughter never gets into something like Pokemon.  I'll just have to show her the Chinpokomon episode of South Park.   ;D

I hate it when my kid has just watched pokemon on TV. I think is created by toy manufacturers, because after watching an episode all the toys always "start fighting". I can only shudder at the carnage a pokemon game will bring.

I have seen 3 year old kids rattle off every single dang one of those things by memory before. That is just plain crazy that a little kid can remember all of that stuff, much less that they have the patience to take the time to learn all of it.

Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed Pokemon Snap for N64. One of my favorite games for that system (note to Chad, get it for your N64 if you don't already - your kids will LOVE it). I've tried out one of the original GB games for pokemon and thought it was kind of neat.

So I guess I don't have a problem with Pokemon. At least kids have to think to play the game.

We do have that game - but my kids probably haven't played it.  They do play Pokemon Stadium when they have the chance.  I only keep about 20 games actually accessible to them for the N64.

If you hadn't shown her Pokemon the kids at school would have.

True but he does have a point.  Other kids would have shown it to her.

Oh,  except for one thing ...the wife is homeschooling our little one.

That would only slow it a little.  She has friends.
