Weird request...

I want in mame to...

1) to setup my resolution
2) setup the game resolution it will use (ie, less then full screen).

why?

I have a projection TV, and I got a projection Screen, but it's slightly to small.  If I bring it closer to the screen, I can't focus it (I can only get a good focus if its more then 8ft and less then 12ft away).

So the idea is to have some overlaps on the left and right side (not a problem top and bottom).  And then not use the sides.

Any suggestions?

AFAIK the only port that lets you do this is advancemame.
to spite the fact that configuration can make your head explode, it will do what you want if you spend the time configuring it.

I use advancemame/menu on my gentoo linux cab

mame rom -window -resolution 640x480

if your desktop is set at 800x600 it'd run the game in a 640x480 window, or whatever size you specify
