Vertical Monitor setup and Horizontal Gaming
« on: March 29, 2007, 01:51:37 pm »
Hey all,

I'm considering ditching a rotating monitor idea and just going with a perminant vertical setup.

1.  My cab originally had a vertical setup
2.  I tend to prefer the vertical classic games

However, I still want to play horizontal mame games, as well as other emulators such as NES etc.  With my ATI card, I can rotate the monitor to be vertical by default.  I'm looking to hear if anyone has gone this route, and encountered any "I wish I would have gone horizontal because _________".

If you have a gripe on this same concern, could you please share?

Thanks
-csa

Depends on the size of your monitor, how often you play horizontal games, and how much having them small and letterboxed will bother you.

Recommend testing your setup with several games, even if it means just rotating the games and watching them display sideways to see how you like it.

I love my dedicated vertical monitor. For the bare few horizontal games I have on it I just make custom overlays to make the letterboxing look better. I don't think I have more than 5 or so.

For instance:
