can someone from the U.S answer this for me
« on: March 10, 2007, 06:04:19 pm »
i have just received a replacement gun hose for a sega type 2 gun via suzo from happ in the states,i plugged it in and no response and some strange problems from the other gun.
i have worked out the problem, the happ hose does not have a shielded cable whereas the original sega does-my question is why do U.S machines not require shielded cables,is it something to do with iso transformers or your laws on RF interference where your cabs have to be shielded against RF interference?

European radio & tv interference laws/requirements/standards are much more strict than they are here in the US. Thankfully we here in the USA don't have to go through the crap you guys 'over there' do.

Well, a part of that "crap" created the SCART connector, which gives us the best available quality on DVD playback AND makes it a breeze to turn any TV into a real arcade monitor.

By the way Grantspan, I love your avatar, I'm a huge fan of Bottom and The Young One's :)  :applaud:

So how did you fix it now ? I cant' really believe that a short cable like that picks up so much intereference that that shielding makes the big difference ?

i fixed the the problem by removing the old wires and replacing with a shielded 8 core cable, the problem only seems to be with the later sega games that use the infra red sensors around the screen.it seems without a shielded cable the infra reds pick up too much signal from the unshielded wires and cannot lock on to the source of the calibration signal.
and the avatar really is me and the wife,i'm the one with the pipe ;)

Mmm, then that shouldn't be any different from what would happen in the US....

O well....

Suzo had to stop selling Sega parts as far as I've heared. There's a new distributor. They already didn't sell SEGA parts here in Holland, which is strange since it's the home office here...
Wouldn't it have been much cheaper to have Ponyboy or Divemaster buy that part for you in the US and have it sent over ?

O well....

HAHAHAHA, Well, your wife is very lucky.....or are you lucky....or....WHAHAHA.....mmmm interesting....so your surname is Hitler.....any relation ? ;) ;) ;)
I recently bought the DVD box set of Bottom...best 8 Euro's I spent in a long time :D

yes thats the thing i still do not understand, why would a U.S version of lost world be any different than a european version-unless of course happ sent me the wrong gun hose and its meant for the earlier games like house of the dead which do not use the infra red sensors and i have just wasted my time.
Bottom for me is not just a television series, its a way of life  :notworthy:
my favourite episodes are the burglar, hotel marveloso and of course love bureau(not the correct episode names, but i am sure you know the ones i mean)
i am shocked that the dutch share the british sense of humour :dizzy:  ;D :laugh2:
