Pix of my Cocktail & Arcade Room
« on: February 26, 2007, 01:24:30 am »
Welp,  I finally moved Joust in to it's new home in the "Arcade Room" (read - 1 car garage)... I also finally broke down and took some pix of my mostly completed Atari Cocktail cabinet.   I plan on changing the control panel from oh so "it ain't lookin good" blue to a wood-grain paper I found at Home Depot that matches the table top damn near perfectly...and I had planned on holding off with the pix until I did that because the blue just doesn't look right...but what the hell,  I had to camera out there and I was taking shots of the room so here they are.

Also note that the cocktail will eventually be lowered to "table" height...but until I get matching "short stools",  I am leaving it as a stand up/tall stool cocktail.  I use the cocktail primarily for a jukebox (WinCab),  but I also have MAME set up.   I've also included a shot of my custom MALA front end layout.

I have absolutely no idea where in the hell I am going to fit the Donkey Kong Jr I just got when she is ready to be put in the room.  I am guessing I will just squeeze the 3 stand up cabinets together and try to fit the 4th beside them (it IS a small cabinet after all).

Or you could convert the Atari back to Centipede.

...Dig Dug.   It was a Dig Dug... But it was beat down (had been converted to a Rally X...badly).

Nice start, what ended being one of my favorite arcades back in the day was originally the waiting room of a former auto service place. It was hardly bigger than a one car garage and within a month they'd gone from a few cabs like you have now to literally lining the walls with them.

If you put the cocktail centered on the roll up door and placed your upright cabs along the side walls, you could stuff upwards of 15 games in there and still have room to play everything.

Open door - roll out cabs.

I could probably have those out of there for you in 15 minutes. Just tell me when your not going to be home for about 1/2 hour.

Hence the big ole' padlock on the garage door INSIDE lock.
