Matching ROMS to SNAPS
Macarro:
Hi, currently I´m one of the webmasters of No-Intro Screenshot archive ;) (By the way, I didn´t know you also write here, Cananas).
In my oppinion, the No-Intro roms are the best ones by far. I´m not sure about the numbers, but for example, for genesis you can find like 3000 roms for just 1500 real games.
Goodtools tries to catalogue everythint including bad-dumps, hacked roms, custom translations and so on... I personally prefer mame alike cataloguing where only the perfect ones are stored.
Regards.

There's also this program called ReNamer...I use it all the time for large scale file renaming. Just set up a rule to remove all the text in brackets/parentheses.

I know what you are going through.
I am having the same problems.
I said the hell with it and manually doing all my own snaps over
I did the same thing with the roms
only kept the USA roms and tried to keep only the USA roms with (!)
sad not all the USA roms are perfect dumps. (most are)
The PC engine ones were simple
NES, SNES, Sega Gen. took months to slim down.
I am just using the Emu to take its own snaps in PNG format.
doing it this way also lets me decide... This game sucks. I do not even want it on my hard drive.
also I am finding games that have games that tie into other games
Dragons revenge ( pinball on sega genesis) has a game before it.
dragons fury. Never knew of that one. (still like dragons revenge better
but dragons fury is also a great pinball game

Now I really don't want to have to go through and rename about 500 files, I was wondering if there was any software out there to do this.
If not, I may dust off my C++ skills, and try and code a little app to do this.

GameEx can CREATE snaps for you, so that you know that each snap has the same filename. The only problem is that it can take a while if you want a gameplay screenshot.
But at least you know that everything has a snap.
