Using Sidewinder (Old style)sticks in Emulaxian?
« on: March 31, 2003, 06:20:56 pm »
Just got a new system and tried Emulaxian frontend!  This is a cool frontend, really gives you that arcade feeling!

Quick question, I want to use MS sidewinder joysticks(old style), is it possible? I've tried using the sidewinder software to emulate keys, but it hasn't worked that great.

Thanks!

yeah there is no internal support for joysticks as i would have to buy a director extension for it...

and using a key simulator is the way to go...there are many of them out there but I an not sure which one would work best because I never tried one because the key remapper of the thrustmaster gamepad I use on my desktop with the fe works just fine...

Thanks!  I think I'll keep messing around with Sidewinder key mapping software, I was able to move around, but for some reason when I try to launch a game, I all the sudden can't?  I set up my key mapping to have button A (on Game pad)to simulate the #1 key, but for some reason now it's like key #1 doesn't work to launch anything, even if I disable the side winder and try to use strickly the keyboard.   I even tried to erase the FE and reload it to see if this would solve the problem, and no luck.  When the FE is installed,  does it keep the setting some where within windows, even after the FE is erased?   Just wondering if I missing a file or reg setting somewhere?

Also, I just wanted to say that your frontend kicks butt!  If I can't get it to work with my sidewinders, I'm almost tempted to hack a keyboard, or even buy an Ipac!   Good job with it!

Thanks!

Sidewinder mapping software is passive (in other words it sucks)  see if you can find a better freeware solution.  :)

Thanks  ;D

but as howard said therer are a lot of keymappers out there you should be able to use most of them without problems.

No the fe does not do anything to the windows registry...it is completely selfcontained...keymappings fo the fe itself are saved in cfg\fe.cfg...and key setup is handled in the general configuration section of the internal cfg utility...
