I used a hammer with a towel to cushion the blow. Seemed to work ok.

Thanks for the tip, I will try that if the mallet remains M.I.A. tomorrow

Looking really good!  It's going to be hard to finish now that it's working!

Thanks

I fired it up with no control panel and no keywiz or optiwiz..... That way I can't play it.  ;) If I did not do it that way it would have been a problem.

Thanks guys,

I got the keywiz and optiwiz in tonight and wired the control panel. So far everything works great. However I came up with another bright idea ??? I now plan to wire the test switch on the coin door to the shazaaam key so I can use it to exit the game incase I need to do something on the cab. That way I will not have to disconnect the keywiz and plug in a keyboard to esc the game.

Nice project and looking good.  I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

The 19" PC monitor was a tight fit, I think I have about an inch to spare if that. And that is after I made the cabinet deeper to begin with.

Can you elaborate on this a bit?  What did you do to make the cabinet deeper?  Was it move the monitor mounting board closer to the glass?

What is the depth of your monitor (advertised/actual)?  What is the make/model?  What part(s) of the monitor hits the back panel?  Is it just the neckboard/neckboard shield?  I would like to go with a 21" if possible, but it sounds like that may not be possible.  I have looked at different monitors and the depth of each can vary by a few inches (for a given size).  I've seen other posts saying 21's are too big, but perhaps that person used a 'larger' 21 when a less deep 21 could be had...

Perhaps you could take several pics of those brackets that you are getting from tbombaci and post some pics for reference.  Perhaps even take a few measurements.  I would sure appreciate it if they have to be fabbed since they are difficult to find...  (I'm sure others here would appreciate it too)

Thanks and keep with the updates!  (and more pics)

Rick

Rick,

Some people here suggested that a 19" pc monitor was gonna be a tight fit so I added 2 inches to the depth of the cabinet when cut the sides.

The monitor was an optiquest I bought used from someone so I did not pay attention to the model number.

I would have liked the monitor to be a little further away from the where the glass will mount but I think it is probably close to where it is supposed to be.

I was gonna use an lcd but money got a bit tight and I got a bit more inventive making it fit. I had to cut about 1 1/2 inches off of the plastic rails that hold the pcb for the monitor and attach it to gain clearance for that . Also the little board on the back of the tube is very close to where the back door will be.

I will post pics of the brackets as soon as I have them.

If you are planning on using a 21" monitor you are going to have to mod the cabinet further then what I did.

Not only will you have to make it deeper but the distance from the top of the control panel to the bottom of the speaker board is going to have to be increased also.

I will be happy to help you out with anything I can, just let me know

John
