  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Have you guys seen this http: //www.arcadecompany.com/

It says Yes, for a limited time, Classic Arcade Grafix Inc is offering our scan collection along with a how-to manual which allows any dealer or collector to produce their own arcade artwork.

We are selling the digital artwork collection that allows us to produce control panel overlays, sideart, marquees, translites, and sticker reproductions. Now you can produce these yourself, in house, or you can have them made at a local sign shop for a fraction of what you are paying for reproductions now. Plus, you can produce items not available anywhere and you can offer your customers custom artwork. Read on for the details.

This is THE LARGEST collection of arcade artwork scans in the world Here is a partial breakdown

Control Panel Overlays (300)
Marquees (860)
Sideart sets (250)
Bezels (270)
Cocktail Table Artwork (36)
Sticker Sets (24)
Some Pinball Translites and sticker sets
Plus other artwork scans not listed on the website(about 5000 files total).

See images of all major arcade pieces on our website www.classicarcadegrafix.com and you can find a partial file listing here.

We have spent well over one hundred thousand dollars and many hundreds of hours to compile and scan this collection into its current form. Every scan is a high quality professional scan suitable for high resolution printing. This collection is much more valuable than any warehouse full of artwork that can only be sold once. These scans make it possible for you to produce new pieces on demand, as many as you need, custom sized and modified pieces, as well as rare pieces that are not available anywhere. All of these for a fraction of the cost you are paying for restoration parts now.

Licensing

We have a large collection of Williams and Bally artwork but due to licensing restrictions, we cannot offer these to the public as either final prints or digital files.

Choose To Make Money!

If you already have a restoration shop, this is a great chance to produce your own artwork in house. If you are looking for a part time business or full time change, this is also a great opportunity.

How much do you spend on restoration artwork every month? How many games can you not find replacement sideart, playfields, translites, plastics for? What if no one makes the piece or what if you need it right away and cannot wait for someone to ship it? Would you like to completely rebuild a game for $30 in artwork instead of $300 or more. Would you like to take any cabinet with an unpopular game and turn it into a completely different game while making it look original and having a full set of matching artwork?

Would you like to take a pinball game with a severely worn playfield that no one would even want repaired, and convert it to a new game, a different title, or a unique version that you created by modifying a similar playfield from another game or a custom playfield you designed?

Would you like to offer your customers custom playfields with their name or company logo, images of their interests or even their children on the playfield, sideart or translite? Would you like to move those ancient games you thought you would never be able to sell? Would you like to make your own artwork on demand, make custom artwork, and make fantasy artwork? Now you can!

How fast can you recover this investment? If you have 2 severely worn, old but working games you thought you would never sell and you can transform them into custom games that sell for $3,500 each, you have recovered your investment with only 2 games! Don't throw away those old pinball or video games, they can be a goldmine. Look at the special theme projects on television shows like American Chopper. They build a custom motorcycle, often worth over $250,000.00, for clients like Budweiser, Miller Electric, and Jay Leno as well as special commemorative bikes for the Space Shuttle Tribute, POW/MIAs, and the Statue of Liberty Restoration bike. You can do the same thing for pinball games and ask top dollar. How many businesses would want a custom pinball machine in their executive offices sporting their company logo? How many customers want Mame

Ya. and if that's not bad enough you'll need 15 k for a printing and laminating system. I have an extremely hard time believing you could easily recoup 22k.

Not to mention that the colour on a lot of their artwork is way off the mark in the first place.

I think their CEO must have departed this world for the planet Koozebane and that's where they're coming from. You gotta laugh at em though, for even dreaming this one up. ;)

What if we were to do the biggest group buy in BYOAC history though?

Think about it, there's 8,000 someodd registered members of BYOAC.  I would guess that 1,000 or more must still be active.  That's only $7 a person.  We could then have all the files centrally located on some server where people could fix any colors or anything else that might be wrong.

OK, yea, I'm dreaming...  But it never hurts to dream.  :P
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

do you know how much of a scam this is, in the making. He is providing the buyer with a harddrive of artwork. Don't know about you but i can copy a harddrive in no time as many times as i want. And the fact that is usb makes me feel like its the Maxtor 1 touch, more and more.  For $7000 i would want all of the original pieces that they used to scan them in this way i feel like i got something real not just fake. It like spending $7000 on a complete Nintendo collection that some store has and is going out of business only to find out they are all Roms. Yes you now have them all but they are not the original.    Just my 2 cents.

i say we all slam them with emails telling them that all of this information should be free and by them selling it is in fact violation of copyright. They are no longer charging for a "service" they are now offically charging for artwork. This is a problem. Either that or we can all chip in by it then put then out of business. :) Whats to say that some of the artwork they are using is not part of the AL some of the authors including my self do not want there artwork sold, considering we put it up there for everyone to use free of charge. I think that should be enough to get them to stop this ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.

I didn't take it as them going out of business. I think there trying to make a quick buck like those make money infomercial scams.

It isn't.  They're opening themselves to a BIG lawsuit.  You can't scan something and sell it.  That's completely illegal.

I wanted to add that anyone that pays for this deserves what they get.  A pile of headaches.  If Mahuti was served with papers (or the paperwork is on its way?), what makes anyone think that Disney, Midway or whomever else hasn't served classicarcade graphics with the same papers?  Disney is notorious for protecting their stuff, as is Nintendo.  Midway is getting that way and Atari is on the brink of destruction and looking to make themselves look as dollar-worthy as ever.  Whoever buys this collection may be buying a bunch of stuff they can never use commercially.

caveat emptor

This is doubly true about their artwork not being their own considering a lot of their artwork is actually interpretations of the originals created by members of this board (myself included).

Looks like the price is now down to $999

2007 Special

After lengthy discussions with collectors and dealers we have decided to drop the price of the full collection from $7000.00 to only $999.00. We have spent well over $100,000.00 building this collection. No one can argue that the full collection is well worth the $7k price tag, but the price is also out of the reach of many collectors and dealers. The idea behind offering the full collection is so it can be used by those that need it so we are dropping the price heavily to allow the average collector to purchase the full set. In order to reduce the price we have removed the original raw scans which were real space hogs. These raw scans were not needed for most items since they had cleaned Photoshop versions already available in the collection. The few pieces that have not been cleaned still include the raw scans so every piece is still in the collection. This collection includes all Arcade and Videogame artwork we have available. It does NOT include any pinball artwork or any of the multi-game artwork. For a file listing and more information see http://www.arcadecompany.com

Here's the entire listing:
