  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Just picked this up today at my local Circuit City.  I know it isn't the best brand out there but the last two plasmas they had left, were marked down, and couldn't resist.  Purchased for $749.00!  Anyway, I am seriously contemplating to connect my PS3 on to it.  I understand several years ago, picture burn in from paused menus and game consoles was a pretty big problem.  But has technology improved any?  Are they still as vulnerable?  This is my first plasma, so ANY opinions or experience would help.

Recently, I was asking similar and other technical questions at BB, and the answer is yes, it's still an issue, so if you can make the constant display parts blink (I don't know if there is an option, but if so), and make sure you have a screen saver going between games, you should be fine.  As for graphics, this type of monitor seems built for 3D graphics.

Dont worry about it. Just dont crank the brightness too high since OSD's in games are often at total white it gets driven harder then any normal video source does.

Stock brightness out of the box will be far too high since display lifetime is not a concern when its operating in a store on display.
